Figure Drawings

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Here are some pics of what I've been doing lately in my figure drawing class.

Park Map

I think I'm finally done with this imaginary, Disneyland-esque park map I've been working on for took me forever. It's also for the same "Disenchanted" TV pilot (

My Storyboarding

These are the first 6 panels for a storyboard I'm working on for my storyboarding class with Karl Gnass at the Animation Guild. I have lots more work to do... Yikes! This is the second storyboard assignment I'll be doing for this class, the first was just copying a scene from a movie and boarding it shot-by-shot. I chose one of the baby scenes in Raising Arizona to board-the one where H.I. (Nick Cage) first goes to the Arizona house to steal a baby from their litter of 5.

I designed this baby character in Photoshop after I did some sketches. He might turn up in a story I storyboard this week for my storyboarding class I'm taking at the Animation Guild.

Cheeky Room

Ride poster for "Disenchanted" TV pilot. Yes, it's a play on "Tiki Room" (by the filmmakers). Still needs tweaking.

The Day I Got My Period

Comic story I drew about myself (and all girls everywhere?) last year.

Did this while I was still in high school. I still really like it.

More College Art

The shell and the woman were done in a drawing class. The one with the smiley worms is a huge oil painting that measures about 3x5 feet, which was done in my favorite painting professor at Berkeley, John McNamara's class. The last is a sculpture I made in ceramics.

Drawing Series

These are three of six drawings from my final drawing series for one of my last art studios at Berkeley.

Country Badger Hoedown

For the "Disenchanted" t.v. pilot ( First pass on a ride/show poster.

Life Drawings

Tuesday, March 11, 2008

This is an oil painting I did while I was at Berkeley. The picture was taken from a weird angle because the painting was hung up on a wall (at least it's being enjoyed). Can you find the butt in my painting? And yes, I meant for it to be there.

Baxley the Badger

My final Baxley the Badger for "Disenchanted" TV pilot. This character was drawn entirely by way of my wacom (drawing) tablet, while the princess character was first drawn, inked, and scanned.

Tallya Excerpt

I decided to post here the 5 pages I did for the comic story, Tallya, which follows some of the stories my grandma has told me about her experiences growing up in a small town called Tallya in Hungary. This excerpt focuses on her relationship with Fredi, her little brother. This project has been put on hold because right now I am overwhelmed with other projects and things.

Disenchanted Princess

This is a Disney-esque princess character I finished today, also for the "Disenchanted" TV pilot. Still might need a little touching up, not sure.

Badger Badger Badger!

Anyways, I'm doing artwork right now for a TV pilot called "Disenchanted" created by NYU students. This is one of the characters I'm working on for them... He's a badger, and mascot of a theme park much like Disneyland. I'm also working on an imaginary park map.

Tomboy Painting

Tomboy says "goodbye!" to the aliens who left her on their planet and are now off to Earth.

My first experiment using my new (and expensive!!!) set of gouache paints. I've painted in gouache maybe once before when I was in high school, but didn't like it, probably because I couldn't use it in the same way I used acrylics, watercolors and oils. Now I better understand its weaknesses (not good for blending, very water soluble, delicate) and it's amazing high points (beautiful bright pigment, quick-drying), and I think, see how I should have been using it before. Anyways, I can't wait to do more gouache painting...

This was a first try at painting a still life in Photoshop. I need to dramatize my lights and darks more... I think. Or something.
