Ignore the copyright...This idea isn't original at all, as it turns out. However, the drawing is.

Upcoming Things/Events...

Okay, so, there are a lot of things I want to do/happenings I want to attend in the next month...Maybe someone wants to do these things too? Here goes it:

February 8th?: See Coraline!
February 8th: Vintage EXPO at the Santa Monica Civic Center
Sometime soon: Visit the OLD FOCALS shop in Pasadena, where I can pick out a nice pair of vintage focals for myself.
February 24th: See Mini Tigers at Knitting Factory? (Not sure if this one is cancelled)
February 28th: See my friend Tim's band, The Morning Benders, play at the Troubador.

I'm Bringing Back the Jughead Hat.

Jughead, my favorite character from the Archie comics, who always played hard to get with the girls, inspired me to google "jughead hats" one day in hopes that I might find one.

I came across this funny little company website (found at, and discovered that these jughead beanie caps are still being sold. According to their website, the Jughead (coined "Kingpin" by the Kingpin company) hat made a comeback in the 80's, of which I was unaware. The hat comes with only a Kingpin bottle cap pin, which I kept. I then personalized it with the Peter Rabbit pin, the Beatles pin, Flapjack, etc. Now it's not just a Jughead's an Emily hat! Oh boy. Golly.

Anyways, here I am, bringing back the Jughead hat, putting it into mainstream (or maybe just artsy-type) consciousness. I'm wearing it RIGHT NOW.

Sorry I haven't been posting like my normal self. This may sound like a lame excuse, but since most of the drawing I've been doing has been for "professional" jobs, I can't post any of the stuff I create right now. I guess it's good that I'm getting paid to draw/paint though, right? Right. Anyways, I will post some stuff soon, but it may or may not be new artwork.

Here's what I've been up to...

Recently, I've been asked to do some freelance storyboarding (my first paid storyboarding gig) on a fun animated short film, which is a new and exciting experience for me.

I'm also continuing to paint watercolor illustrations for a writer's children's book. Painting brings me much pleasure, and painting for work...Beautiful.

Finishing up graduate school applications (in animation).

Every now and then I play a show with the band I'm in, The Myonics.

Lastly, I still hold my steady Santa Monica College job working in the media center (preparing alternate media for disabled students) with a very pleasant boss.

I will try to post again real soon.

Thanks for reading,
